The Colombo International School U16 and U18 Mixed Netball teams emerged champions for the second year in a row.

On Saturday 8th March, the U18 Mixed and Girls International Schools’ Netball tournaments took place at the St Joesph’s Indoor Stadium hosted by CIS.

The CIS Mixed team was unbeaten throughout the tournament. They beat Lyceum Nugegoda 8:1, Royal Institute 9:3 and Wycherley Colombo 10:1 to become the group champions.

CIS faced Lyceum Wattala in the Semi-final, convincingly beating them 8:3 in order to reach the Final of the tournament.

At the Final, CIS confronted Wycherley Colombo whom they had met previously in the group stages. After a tough contest, CIS won 7:4 to emerge U18 Mixed International Schools’ Netball champions.

The team consisted of Tinara Perera (Captain), Mithunsaai Pawar (Vice Captain), Dinuri Ratnapala, Nathan Gunawardana, Linaya Jayatilleka, Amrit Samarasinhe, Hamdha Hussein, Dinuga De Silva, Yasindu Samaraweera, Moosa Mohamed, Esha Madage, Shivaani Dinesh.

The U16 Mixed and Girls’ International Schools Netball tournament took place on Sunday 9th March at the St Josephs Indoor Stadium hosted by CIS.

CIS won their first group match vs Lyceum Panadura 15:2 and lost narrowly against Lyceum Wattala 10:9 to progress to the Semi-finals as group Runners-up.

CIS beat Wycherley Colombo 12:5 in the semi final to progress to the final.

Although Lyceum Wattala had previously defeated CIS in the group stages, CIS found another gear in the Final and won the match 9:6 in a thrilling and competitive game.

The team consisted of Amrit Samarasinhe (Captain), Esha Madage (Vice Captain), Linaya Jayatilleka, Aabidh Ishfaq, Chelaya Fonseka, Bashwara Perera, Liyana Rishard, Aneeq Jamaldeen, Osuni Vithanage, Revanth Udhayakumar, Sneha Hiruki, Moosa Mohamed.
