CIS Environmental Society Award:

We are very proud of the student members of our Environmental Society, who have participated in weekly Sunday beach clean-ups for the past four months, following the X-Press Pearl disaster.

The students worked with hand-held sieves, collecting the plastic nurdles littering the coast; all nurdles were then given to the authorities to be disposed of. Their efforts have been recognized with an award commending their commitment to looking after Sri Lanka’s beautiful natural environment.
