The 31st Session of the Colombo Model United Nations (COMUN 2025) Conference was held at the Overseas School of Colombo on the 28th of February, 1st and 2nd of March 2025.
COMUN 2025 boasted around 400 delegates, IPC members and admins from over 20 school around the country. The main conference was the culmination of several initial events in this year’s COMUN calendar, ranging from workshops and practice debates, to the faculty advisors meeting and the chair training sessions, with professional consultants.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Revitalizing Global Unity & Change”. Reflecting on their 30-year history, COMUN 2025 looks to adapt and sustain the ideals of open dialogue, diplomacy, resilience and adaptability. In order to meet these standards, CIS selected and gathered some of the best, brightest and upcoming minds from the student body, ranging from Year 7 students to Year 13 students, from experienced executive committee members, returning seasoned MUNers, to a fresh group of novice delegates.
The senior members of the MUN society and its executive committee members took over training, over the past few months. From research and discussion sessions, to Q&A session over the phone, all members of the delegation persisted and worked tirelessly to bring forth the very best of the enshrined ideals of critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving and social justice.

The CIS students in the executive committee of the COMUN 2025 conference consisted of :
- A senior member of the CIS MUN society, Rudhesh Ram Sathanathan, was appointed as the “PRESIDENT – Global e-Sports Federation”
- The President of the CIS MUN society, Lee Soomin was appointed as the “VICE PRESIDENT – World Health Assembly”
- The Secretary of Operations of the CIS MUN society, Girinaath Aravind was appointed as the “CO-CHAIR – World Intellectual Property Organization General Assembly”
- A senior member of the CIS MUN society, Thejanaa Jegajeevan was appointed as the “CHAIR – Climate and Economic Resilience Forum”
- A senior member of the CIS MUN society, Ashveedha Jayasinghe was appointed as the “CO-CHAIR – World Health Assembly”
As chair-persons, all 5 students presided over intense debate and crisis sessions, with a level-head, a true sense of fairness and poised leadership skills
